Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the inquiry
method on the ability of students to narrative writings in class VIII of MTs Darul
Hikmah NW Pekosong Pringgabaya 2016/2017 Academic Year. This type of
research is experimental research. The design of the inquiry method is in the form
of narrative essays. The subject of this research is Class VIII MTs Darul Hikmah
NW Pekosong. This inquiry learning method is conducted for 2 meetings. The
population in this study all eighth grade students consisted of 2 classes. The
sample in this study was Class VIIIa as an experimental class and class VIIIb as a
control class. The instrument in this class is a test of the ability to writings
narrative in the form of an Essay test totaling 7 items.
Based on the data analysis, the average value of the post-test experimental
class is 80.8 and the control class is 59.5. Whereas, the hypothesis test using
statistical analysis with the t-test formula on the 5% confidence level is obtained
by tcount (6.11)> ttable (2.045) so that the conclusion in this study is the inquiry
method model influences the effect of inquiry methods on the ability of students
to writing narrative in class VIII MTs Darul Hikmah NW Pekosong Pringgabaya
2016/2017 Academic Year.
