This study aims to determine the effect of Group invetigation methods on
students' problem solving skills on Plant Life System materials in grade VIII SPM
Negeri 5 Masbagik students of the academic year 2017 / 2018. This research type
is quasi experiment. The research population is all students of class VIII
consisting of 150 students and divided into 5 classes. Of the 5 classes of
population is class VIII B as an experimental class with the number of students 25
people and class VIII C as a control class with the number of students 25 people.
data collection instruments used are pretest and posttest. For data prerequisite test
is done by data normality test by using chi-square formula and homogeneity test
of data by using F-test formula, while hypothesis test technique use t-test formula.
Based on the results of research and calculation results can be seen
student learning outcomes in the experimental class included in the category high
with an average score of 76.16 and student learning outcomes control class
included in the category with an average value of 63.7. From result of t test which
have been done diproleh t= 5,398, where tt with dk = 50, and significant level
0.05 for test of two side = 2,021. it thit> ttab or 5.398> 2.021. Thus it can be
concluded that there is influence of Group Investigation study method to solve
student learning problem.
