Student activity in biology science learning process is still less active. the
cause is the more frequent learning using conventional learning methods
(lectures). The use of lecture method that is often in the process of biology science
learning makes students quickly bored and the results of student learning is low,
To overcome these problems applied learning methods that can stimulate student
cognitive learning outcomes, especially in answering biology science and
encourage students to be more active during the learning process . Therefore,
researchers tried to apply the NHT method.
This study used quasi experimental research. Population in this research
is all student of class VII of SMP Negeri 3 Pringgabaya, which is four class.
Research sample was taken randomly by simple random sample technique and
taken two classes, class VIIA as experiment class and class VIIB as control class.
In experimental class applied method (NHT) while control class applied
conventional method.
Based on the data obtained, the results of normality tests performed on
each class obtained value of x2counted in the experimental class 7.62 whereas in
the control class value x2count obtained 3.93 and the price of x2tabel used to test
