Abstract :
This research to find out whether or not read, cover, remember, and retell
are effective or not in teaching reading, and to know how effective is read, cover,
remember, and retell strategy in teaching reading, and to know how effective the
read, cover, remember, and retell strategy in teaching reading at second grade
students of MTs NW Perigiin academic year 2020-2021. This research use
quantitative method with a pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test
design. The sample use the research was random sampling which taken from
second grade and consisted of 255 students. Reading test and questionnaire as an
instrument to collect the data. In collecting the data, pre-rest and post-test were
given to the sample. The result was analyzed by using in SPSS 22 software for
windows program. After analyzing the data, the research found that mean score of
pre-test and post-test 63,48 and post-test was 80,60. In paired sample t-test, there
was a significant difference in the mean scores between pre-test and post-test, t
(df=24)= -10.3030 at p= 0,000, it meant that the meant that the hypothesis was
accepted. It implied read, cover, remember, retell and remember strategy effective
in teaching reading.
