Abstract :
The purpose of this study were clearly to find out whether or not comic
strips is effective in writing skill, and to know how effective is comic strips in
writing skill at eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Jerowaru in the school year
2020-2021. This research used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one
group pre-test and post-test design. The sample used of the research was cluster
sampling which was taken eighth graders (VIII) and consisted of 20 students.
Writing test was used as an instrument to collect the data. In collecting the data,
pre-test and post-test were given to the sample. The result was analyzed by using
SPSS 22 software for windows program. After analyzing the data, the researcher
found that the mean score of pre-test was 46.30 and post-test was 57.60.in paired
sample t-test, there was significant difference in the mean scores between pre-test
and post-test, which was t=10.597at p˃0,05, It meant that the alternative
hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was accepted. It implied that
comic strips was effective in writing skill.
