Abstract :
This study was aimed to find the teachers perception on speaking
activities of English textbook “When English Rings a Bellâ€. This study
used descrptive qualitative as the research design. The subjects of the
study were two English teachers of SMPN 2 Masbagik who tought first
year students. To collect the data the researcher used two instruments,
there were observation and interview. The interview consisted of 13 openended questions.This result indicated that the textbook was excellent. Both
of the teachers believed that the textbook provided communicative
activities because they totally reflected the criteria of the speaking
activities. While, the result of the interview showed that the teachers
believed that the textbook is suitable with their teaching and learning
objectives. The textbook is also very helpful as their guidance and source
in the teaching and learning process.
