Abstract :
This study was aimed at finding the students’ problems in writing thesis proposal. The subjects of this study were 20 students of Study Program of English Language Education Hamzanwadi University in academic year 2019-2020. The data were collected by using questionnaire with 27 items to capture student’s opinion about their problems in writing their thesis proposal. Descriptive quantitative design was used in this research. After doing the research it was found that students problems caused by two factors. Those are sociocultural and linguistic factor. The result of the analysis showed that most of students faced problems in four kinds of problems those are: in writing data analysis, finding relevant references, lack vocabulary, and writing theoretical framework. However, to solve the students problems in writing thesis proposal there are some suggestions. For students, they should learn more about grammar and practice how to write good thesis and read various books to get new vocabulary. For teachers, they should give more specific explanation and make sure the students understand about the explanation. Key Word: thesis proposal, problems
