Abstract :
This research aimed to find out the use sustained silent reading
method of students ability in Reading comprehension. This research used quasiexperimental method with one groups pre-test and pos-test design. This research
was conducted on september to october 2020 .The sample of this research was
the eleventh grade of MA NW Korleko which consisted of 25 students. The
researcher took XI IPA as experimental class..The findings indicated that there
was a significance difference between students’ pre-test and pos-test in
experimental class. In addition, the mean score of pre-test was 7.8 while in
post-test was 8.0. Based on to the result of One Sample S-W, all of the values of
Shapiro-Wilk in pre-test and post-test were too much the values of the
significance (p) = 0.05. The value of Shapiro-Wilk in pre test was 0.142 while the
value of significance in post test was 0.108 Based on the calculation of PairedSample T-test, the value of significant obtained is 0.00. that less than 0.05, The
result of the research, the researcher concluded that hypothesis was accepted. It
means that the use of Sustained Silent Reading method was effective in reading
comprehension at the eleventh grade students’ of MA NW Korleko.
