Abstract :
Kata kunci: Analisis Kesalahan, Pelafalan, Vokal Bahasa Inggris Tujuan penelitian ini adalah; (1) untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan pelafalanvokal bahasa Inggris pada mahasiswa semester satu Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan IAIN Surakarta tahun ajaran 2015/2016; (2) untuk mengklasifikasikan kesalahan menurut tipe-tipenya dalam pelafalan vokal bahasa Inggris pada mahasiswa semester satu Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan IAIN Surakarta tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Metode Yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan pada mahasiswa semester satu Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di IAIN Surakarta tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Sejumlah 11 mahasiswa sebagai peserta. Data diperoleh dengan melakukan dua tes pelafalan. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan prosedur analisis kesalahan; pengidentifikasian dan pendeskripsian kesalahan. Pada penelitian tersebut telah ditemukan bahwa ada kesalahan dalam pelafalan vokal bahasa Inggris. Prosentase kesalahan pelafalan vokal bahasa Inggris, dari yang terendah, adalah sebagai berikut; /e/ 5%; /ÊŠ/ 8%; /É’/ 12%; /ɪ/ 21%; /aɪ/ 24%; /ɪə/ 28%; /ɔɪ/ 31%; /É™/ 34%; /iË/ 52%; /eɪ/ 53%; /uË/ 55%; /É‘Ë/ 64%; /aÊŠ/ 64%;/É”Ë/ 75%; /aɪə/ 76%; /ÊŠÉ™/ 85%; /ÉœË/ 87%; /ɛə/ 91%; dan /æ/, /ÊŒ/, /əʊ/, /eɪə/, /ɔɪə/, /əʊə/, /aÊŠÉ™/ dengan prosentase 100%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peserta melakukan tiga tipe kesalahan pelafalan; substitusi, insersi, dan penghilangan. Keywords: Error Analysis, Pronunciation, English Vowel The objectives of this research are: (1) to identify errors in pronouncing English vowels of the first semester students of English Education Department of Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty State Islamic Institute of Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016; (2) to classify the errors by its types in pronouncing English vowels of the first semester students of English Education Department of Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty State Islamic Institute of Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This research is carried out on the first semester students of English Education Department of State Islamic Institute of Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016. There are 11 students as the participants. The data are obtained by conducting two pronunciation tests. The data are analyzed by using error analysis procedure; identifying the error and describing the error. The research found that there are errors in pronouncing English vowel. The percentag number of pronunciation errors of English vowel, from the lowest, are as follow; /e/ 5%; /ÊŠ/ 8%; /É’/ 12%; /ɪ/ 21%; /aɪ/ 24%; /ɪə/ 28%; /ɔɪ/ 31%; /É™/ 34%; /iË/52%; /eɪ/ 53%; /uË/ 55%; /É‘Ë/ 64%; /aÊŠ/ 64%; /É”Ë/ 75%; /aɪə/ 76%; /ÊŠÉ™/ 85%; /ÉœË/ 87%;/ɛə/ 91%; and /æ/, /ÊŒ/, /əʊ/, /eɪə/, /ɔɪə/, /əʊə/, /aÊŠÉ™/ are 100%. The results showed that the participants perform three types of pronunciation error; substitution, insertion and omission.
