Abstract :
Keywords :Experimental Research, English Comic, Teaching , Speaking Ability, The Eighth Grade Students The main objective of this research is to find out whether there is or not a significant difference of student‟s speaking ability between students who are taught by using English comic and those who are taught by using A paper of narrative. The hypothesis of this study is there is any significant difference of speaking ability between students taught by using English comic and those taught by using A paper of narrative. The researcher used English comic in teaching speaking ability at the eighth grade students of MTs N Temon in the academic year 2015/2016. The research method was experimental research (pretest-posttest group design). In taking the sample, the writer used cluster random sampling technique The sample of the research was the eighth grade students of VIII D as the experimental class and VIII C as the control class. Each of them consists of 27 students for experimental class, and 28 students for control class. The students of VIII D was experimental class who were taught using English comic and the students of VIII C was control class who were taught using A paper of narrative. The data were in the form of quantitative data and they were taken from speaking test before having three times treatment for each class (pretest), and speaking test after having three times treatment for each class (posttest). The data were analyzed by using T-test formula. It is used to determine whether there was a significant difference between the average score of the experimental and the control class or not. The mean score of the experimental class was 79.11, while the mean score of control class was 69.36. it means that the students who are taught by using English comic have better speaking ability than those who are taught by using A paper of narrative. Result of tvalue (3.660) which is higher than ttable (2.056) or tvalue > ttable. It showed that to was higher than tt (to>tt). Therefore, the alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted while the Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It means that, there is a significant difference in student‟s speaking ability between students who are taught by using English comic and those who are taught by using A paper of narrative. Based on the result findings, it can be concluded that the use of English comic in teaching students‟ speaking ability is effective. Therefore, English comic can be implemented as one of the effective models of teaching to teach speaking ability.
