Abstract :
Key words : Students’ Attitude, Teachers’ Corrective Feedback, Learning
Writing.
Understanding the students’ attitude toward teacher’s corrective feedback
is important in learning writing. Students have different attitudes toward teacher’s
corrective feedback. The objectives of this research are (1) To describe about the
way teacher gives corrective feedback in learning writing of the First grade in
senior high school MAN 1 Surakarta in the academic year of 2016/2017. (2) to
describe about the student’s attitudes toward teacher’s corrective feedback in
learning writing of the First grade in senior high school MAN 1 Surakarta in the
academic year of 2016/2017.
This research is descriptive qualitative analysis. The data source was taken
from the First grade students MAN 1 Surakarta in the academic year of
2016/2017. The object of this research is the students from X IPS 1, X IPS 2 and
X IPA 5. The instrument of the research is researcher herself. In this research the
researcher uses observation, interview, questionnaire and documentation as
technique of collecting data. The researcher uses an interactive process by
Moleong (2000:103) to analyze the data, The activities in analyzing the data are:
(1) Collection the data by doing interview with the informants, giving
questionnaire to the students in writing class, observation of the way of the
teacher giving corrective feedback and the student’s attitude in writing class. (2)
Reduces the data were needed from interview and observation to the teacher and
students. (3) Display the qualitative data from data reduction in order to know the
pattern of data so that it was easy to understand. (4) Made conclusion about the
way of the teacher giving corrective feedback and the student’s attitude toward
teacher corrective feedback in writing activity.
The result of this research, show that teacher usually gave direct feedback.
Based on the research problem, it is discovered that (1) the students prefer direct
feedback than indirect feedback (2) the students feel satisfaction with teacher’s
written feedback (3) Teacher’s corrective feedback can motivate the students (4)
teacher’s written feedback assisted the students and (5) the students had positive
attitude toward teacher’s corrective feedback.
