Abstract :
The aim of this study is to describe what are the teacher?s approaches and strategies to teach English for students with special need and how the approaches and strategies implemented by the English teacher. The study uses descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this study is the seventh grade students of SLB C-C1 YAKUT Purwokerto in the academic year 2016/2017. The technique of data collection is triangulation of technique and triangulation of data source. The writer took the data from observation, interview, and documentation. In analyzing the data, the writer used the data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The study was conducted on May until June 2017. The subject of the study was the head master of SLB C-C1 YAKUT Purwokerto, the English teacher, and the students of SLB C-C1 YAKUT Purwokerto. After the data of the study had been collected and analyzed, the writer found the approaches and strategies was used by English teacher at SLB C-C1 YAKUT Purwokerto. The writer found some approaches were used by the teacher in the school, such as: expository approach, individual approach, and affection approach. All of the approaches and strategies were implemented to teach English. The writer also found some strategies used at SLB C-C1 YAKUT Purwokerto, such as: direct learning strategy with demonstration method, and drilling method. The student enjoyed in teaching and learning process because the atmosphere the teaching and learning process was easy and fun.
