Abstract :
This study examines the relationship between Gratification Seeking, Materialism, and Compulsive Buying, Against Self-Esteem on Shopee consumers. Gratification Seeking is a variable that describes a person's attitude in seeking certain satisfactions to relieve stress and reduce negative moods. Materialism is material things related to short-term happiness, satisfaction and false well-being in life and the tendency to judge one's own success and that of others materially. Compulsive Buying is a repeated and continuous buying behavior based on negative emotions, and this behavior is a form of response when experiencing negative feelings or events. Self-Esteem is a self-assessment of how valuable, competent and all-encompassing that is related to oneself. The type of research used is quantitative research through a consumer survey approach. The sampling technique applied is purposive sampling. Data was collected using a survey method through google forms filled out by respondents. The research sample used was 100 respondents who were E-Commerce Shopee users, especially respondents who were in the Surabaya area. Meanwhile, in this study, the tests used in statistical analysis were hypothesis testing with PLS-SEM (Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling) and WarpPLS 7.0 software. Based on the management results, it is known that there is a significant relationship between the Gratification Seeking, Materialism, and Compulsive Buying variables, towards Self-Esteem in Shopee consumers.
