Abstract :
Determination of the distance between the rudder and the propeller on a 3 GT fishing boat at the Bengkalis State Polytechnic Shipyard. Fishing boats are generally designed to catch fish and fishing boats must also have a configuration to achieve maximum propeller thrust, because there is no determination that discusses the appropriate distance, so the appropriate distance for a 3 GT boat is
not yet known. Determining the distance from the rudder to the propeller aims to determine the optimal distance to the vessel in order to increase the ability of 3 GT fishermen to operate. The analysis was carried out using the (CFD) method, by comparing several variations in the distance of the rudder leaf to the propeller, namely: 5cm, 10cm, 15cm, 20cm, 25cm, 30cm, 35cm, 40cm, 45cm, 50cm. From the results of the analysis using Ansys, the most optimal distance was found, amely 30cm with a Thrust value of 449.89 N and a Torqen value of 2.93 Nm
