Abstract :
Friction welding is one of the newest welding technologies where production costs are lower and the joints produced are also of good quality. By combining the heat caused by friction and pressure, two metals that are the same or dissimilar can be connected. This research will analyze the effect of Torque Pressure variations of 3, 4, and 5 N/mm on the Brinell hardness test and microstructure test on aluminum 6061 with a diameter of 14 mm. This research process involves varying the torque pressure of 3, 4 and 5 N/mm with a constant rotational speed of 1255 rpm and friction pressure of 2 N/mm. The results of Friction Welding at varying torque pressure of 3 N/mm in the Weld Zone area have the highest hardness value, namely amounting to 54.79 HB in the third specimen and the lowest value is in the second specimen, namely 51.05. From the microstructure results in the Weld Zone area, it looks like the grains are smooth and still good, but in the weld area it is not well connected and there are cracks in the weld core area. at a torque pressure variation of 5 N/mm in the Weld Zone area where the shape of the weld joint is homogeneous and the grains are smooth and even, resulting in a high hardness value compared to torque pressures of 3 and 4 N/mm. The highest hardness value is 61.22 HB in the first specimen and the lowest hardness value is in the second specimen, namely 58.82 HB.
