Abstract :
A pump is a device that is used to increase fluid pressure so that it can flow from one place to another. The pump is responsible for delivering water to consumers from the source, and is an important part of the clean water supply system. This research analyzes the efficiency and performance of centrifugal pumps used in the water supply system at the Tirta Terubuk Bengkalis Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM). The main focus of the research carried out was to measure the influence or impact of the 40 Hz frequency on pump performance, in terms of reducing pump motor efficiency, pump efficiency, power losses, decreasing pump rpm performance, as well as the characteristics of the pumps used by PDAM Trirta Terubuk Bengkalis., on a centrifugal type pump (Groundfos 1) The data used in this research includes real time data from pump voltage (v), pump current (I), frequency used, water flow of 17 L/s, and pump head of 75 .8 m, and also the specification data of the pump and pump motor were examined, the measurement results showed that the pump efficiency was at 62%, the pump motor experienced a decrease in efficiency of 23.6%, power losses of 6.3 Kw, and a decrease pump rotational speed or pump rpm at 579 rpm. This study shows how centrifugal pumps function under certain conditions at PDAM Bengkalis.
