Abstract :
In Bengkalis Island, most of the soil types are soft or clay. These conditions resulted in a
shortage of materials that have been planned. So it is necessary to design the final density of the
road foundation pile to find a sufficient coefficient by testing class B aggregates to produce a
modification of the road foundation embankment design using variations of subgrade and
gambangan.
The final density design of the embankment is carried out by testing methods in the
laboratory and testing in the field. The foundation layer uses Class B Aggregate from the three
tested quarries taken one quarry with good gradation. Laboratory testing includes testing of
aggregate properties, testing of heavy density (proctor), laboratory CBR testing. While the field
tests include testing the subgrade CBR using the DCP tool, calculating the weight of the loose
volume before compaction, spreading and compacting with a baby roller solid device on two
compaction models, the first model using gambangan + geotextile, the second using geotextiles,
density testing using a Sand cone tool.
The results of this study obtained the coefficient of model 1 of 1.08 and the coefficient of
model 2 of 1.03
