Abstract :
This research is a design and construction of a cassava cutting machine
in the form of a pattern. The ultimate goal of making the machine is the
production of stick-shaped cassava. In planning the machine will be processed to
produce long cassava pieces. The design of the machine is made with dimensions
of 600 mm x 600 mm x 650 mm using a 0.5 hp electric motor. The speed reduction
system uses a 1:2 pulley and belt and is forwarded by a gearbox with a 1:60 ratio,
the way the engine works is to rotate the crankshaft to move the cassava
piston/pusher at 21.43 rpm. The study was carried out 3 times with 10 kg of
cassava with an average yield of 9 kg of good cutting, 0.7 kg unsuccessful, 0.3 kg
left on the blade. The production capacity of this long-cut cassava cutting
machine is capable of cutting as much as 90 kg/hour with a machine production
efficiency of 90%
