Abstract :
This research was conducted to find out the influence of heat treatment
temperature variations and variations with a detention time with the aim to find out
how temperature and how long the detention the right to increase the hardness of the
steel, with using a single cooling media namely media water cooling solution of salt,
after doing the process of heating (Heat Treatment) on specimens with temperature
variations i.e. temperature 750 ° C, 800 ºc, 850 ° C and 900 ° C, and was detained
by a detention time of two (the Holding Time) i.e. 15 minutes and 30 minutes, found
the value of hardness on each specimen to rise and the value of the highest violence
obtained at a temperature of 800 ° C with a detention time of 15 minutes, with the
HRC hardness value of 64.2, while the lowest value was obtained at a temperature of
800 ° C with detention time of 30 minutes, with a value of HRC 51.6, from research
that has been done then obtainable temperature to increase violence a good
temperature is 800 ° C with detention time 15 minutes.
