Abstract :
Welding of SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) is welding with an electric flame
arc that is used as a heat source to melt metal (electrodes), this research was
conducted to determine the strength of ST 37 steel to welding connections using
variations of cooling media, with water cooling media, cooling media waterr
conditioning, SAE 10 w-40 oil cooling media and Coolant Radiator cooling
media, based on the results of this study obtained the highest tensile strength on
SAE 10 w-40 oil cooling media that is equal to 474.78 N / mm2 which has a strain
increase of 14 %, and the highest strain value is found in Coolant Radiator
cooling media which is 18% with a tensile strength of 466.75 N / mm2.
