Abstract :
Problem of plasma cutting that still handy portable and doesn?t include
transmission devices. This resulted of engine performance plasma cutting not
maximal and movement of hand torch relatively not constant since machine was
operated manually (hand).
In this final project, a modified design of plasma cutting aids is made to
optimize the performance of the plasma cutting machine during the pipe cutting
process.
From the calculation, the rotation speed generated in this plasma cutting
tool is 8.875 rpm using three times the transmission system namely gearbox and
pully. The motor selected in this plasma cutting tool is an electric motor with a
rotation speed of 1420 rpm, with a rotation speed of 1420 rpm and then
transmitted to a 10: 1 ratio gearbox found in the gearbox resulting in a rotating
speed of 142 rpm at the first transmission. Then continued on the second and third
transmissions on pully with a ratio of 4: 1 in each transmission so that the final
rotation speed on the chuck of the plasma cutting aids is 8,875 rpm.
