Abstract :
Every day, 200-300 tons of garbage are disposed Piyungan TPA location in the Ngablak, Sitimulyo, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Method of processing sanitary landfills. In the waste management there is no separation between organic and inorganic waste so as to produce liquid waste in the form of leachate which can pollute the river and also groundwater around the landfill. One of the dangerous ingredients in leachate is chromium (Cr). The existence of metal contamination in the waters must be reduced because chrome has a bad impact in the environment or the life of living things. That must be considered is to look for waste treatment methods that do not cause new pollution loads, such as electrolysis. Based on preliminary tests conducted by researchers on January 18, 2018, Cr content in leachate waste in Piyungan landfill was obtained at 2 mg / L, the results exceeded the quality standard of Cr content of 0.5 mg / L. This research is experimental out the use of processing of four Al electrode pairs by electrolysis method can reduce Cr levels. Sampling by grabbing the sampl. The sample used is leachate. The instrument used is an electrolysis tub using four pairs of aluminum electrodes measuring 15 cm x 20 cm. The data obtained is analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicate that the electrolysis method of 4 pairs of electrodes can reduce chromium levels int the average landfill by 33,53 %.
