Abstract :
The aim of this research is to analyze the motivation/background of investors investing in illegal investments. The research was conducted using qualitative methods. Interviews were conducted with investors who invested in syirkah at the MS Tegal restaurant. Based on the interview results, it is known that the motivation of investors to invest in the restaurant is because the investment model is offered in the form of syirkah where investors are interested in getting to know this business model. The manager (business owner) informs that the business will be run according to Islamic law, without usury, with the main aim (goals) of building the people's (Islamic) economy in congregation. In addition, other motivations include making a profit, adding to the investment portfolio, adding/building networks and friendships, studying business and being invited by friends. This phenomenon is very interesting, because normally, the motivation of investors in investing is to get profit, but in this study the main motivation is because the investment model is syirkah.
