Abstract :
This study examines the factors that influence banks' ability to generate profits. In addition, researchers are also interested in analyzing the presence of intervening variables. This study is done because there are still gaps in the results of previous studies that still need to be consistent in the conclusions of the findings. The sample chosen is the banking industry during the period 2016 ? 2020. The analysis technique chosen is multiple regression analysis and the Sobel Test to test the mediating effect of the CAR variable. The test results conclude that NPL and CAR significantly negatively affect ROA. While LDR does not affect ROA. In the mediation test, it was found that CAR was proven to be able to mediate the effect of NPL and LDR on ROA
