Abstract :
The use of energy today refers to fossil energy or non-renewable energy,
where its availability is decreasing and later it will have an impact on the energy
crisis in the future. On the other hand, there is biomass energy or renewable
energy (reneawable energy) with anabundant quantity and cannot be optimized
yet in its use. One of the uses of biomass energyis the manufacture of bioarang
briquettes.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of bamboo waste
charcoal briquette arpus adhesive on calorific value, moisture content, ash
content, and combustion rate. This study used an experimental method by mixing
bamboo waste charcoal and arpus adhesive variations of 95%:5%, 90%:10%,
85%:15%, and 80%:20%. The results showed that arpus adhesive has an
influence on the characteristics of charcoal briquettes, namely the higher calorific
value, while the water content and ash content values will be lower. Of all the
tests carried out, all of them have met the quality standards of SNI charcoal
briquettes No.1/6235/2000 used, the best results were found in a variation of
80%:20% with a water content test value of 4.32%, ash content of 7.2%, heat
value of 6713,214 cal/gr, and a combustion rate of 0.03111 gr/min.
