Abstract :
Microhydro Power Plant (PLTMH) is a small-scale hydroelectric power plant (< 100
kW) which has many advantages, especially it can work at low heads, environmentally friendly,
and a renewable energy. One of the low head hydro power turbines is screw turbine. There are
many parameters and variables that influence the performance of the turbines, such as number
of blades, number of screws, inclination angle, and flow discharge. In relation to this, it is
necessary to conduct research to analyse the optimal performance conditions.
The objective of the research is to investigate the influences of inclination angle and
flow discharge to the turbine output power and turbine efficiency. The research was conducted
on a screw turbine in a 15 cm outside the diameter, 10 blades, 10 cm pitch, and 100 cm length
model screw turbine, inclination angle was varied in 20°, 30°, 40° and the flow discharge was
varied in 100 l/min, 150 l/min, and 180 l/min.
In conclusion, this study had the maximum rotation of 368,2 rpm at 180 L/min flow
discharge and 40° incline angle, the maximum power output of 10,41 Watt at 180 L/min flow
discharge and 40° incline angle, and the maximum efficiency of 49,7 % at 180 L/min flow
discharge and 30° incline angle.
