Abstract :
In general, an airplane has main parts, namely the fuselage, empennage,
wing, landing gear and engine. One of the components that often fail on Grob
planes is the engine. Inside the engine, it consists of several parts, namely the
compressor, combustion chamber, turbine, propeller reduction gearbox and
accessory gearbox. The compressor is a component part of the engine that functions
to suck air. This compressor has a component/accessory attached, namely the bleed
valve. Bleed valve is a component that functions as a regulator of the amount of air
used for combustion, at low rotation the bleed valve will open and limit the air
entering the combustion chamber, while at high rotation the bleed valve will close
to produce maximum airflow used for combustion. The workings of the bleed valve
are in accordance with the air ratio set by the BOV (Bleed of Valve) diaphragm.
This study uses the MTBF equation to determine the results of calculating
the average value of the bleed valve component failure time and the RCM method
to determine the RPN value of the bleed valve component.
The results of the study show that the average time to failure of the bleed
valve component is 596.48 hours and the results of the RCM analysis can be
concluded that the RPN value of the bleed valve component is in the high category,
so special attention is needed for this component by carrying out proper preventive
maintenance carried out routinely in order to prevent component failure and to
increase component capability and extend the service life of the bleed valve
component.
