Abstract :
Coconut shell powder and aluminum powder are materials that are widely
available and have great potential to be manufactured into technological products
that are more environmentally friendly with the concept of utilizing manufacturing
business waste. The purpose of this study was to identify the value of the wear test
and hardness value using epoxy resin.
This study employed epoxy resin, coconut shell powder, aluminum powder
with a composition of 55%:30%:15, 60%:30%:10%, and 65%:30%:5%. The
manufacturing process uses a press method with a vertical force pressure of 2.5
newtons for 15 minutes and was dried under the hot sun at the natural temperature
for approximately 24 hours, which was then carried out by a process of wear and
hardness tests.
The result of this hardness test was the highest at 12.02 BHN occurring at a
volume fraction variation of 65%:30%:5%. The lowest wear rate value of 7.64x
-10
mm2
/kg occuring at the composition of 55%:30%:15%.
