Abstract :
Corrosion treatment on aircraft materials is very important, one of which is by
coating the material with an inhibitor which aims to reduce the corrosion rate
experienced by a material on an aircraft. This study aims to determine the quality
and efficiency of inhibitor types on the corrosion rate of 2024-T3 series aluminum
alloy.
In this research, the coating process uses Fluid film, LPS 3, and CRC 5-56 Multi Purpose inhibitors by spraying the 2024-T3 series aluminum alloy structure and
tested using a 3-electrode cell tool with parangtritis seawater media.
Based on data analysis, it shows that the corrosion rate of aluminum alloy 2024-
T3 with fluid film is 0.000164395 mpy, LPS 3 0.00749176 mpy, and with CRC 5-56
Multi-Purpose 0.00167835 mpy. The corrosion rate of 2024-T3 aluminum with
Fluid film is slower than that of CRC 5-56 Multi-Purpose and LPS 3, which means
that the use of Fluid film on 2024-T3 series aluminum alloy is more efficient than
that of LPS 3 and CRC 5-56 Multi-Purpose.
