Abstract :
In the world of aviation, aircraft operator needs to know how tough the engine
performance of an aircraft is in operation, especially in everchanging conditions of flying
altitude. Pratt and Whitney PT6A-8C which is an EMB-314 Super Tucano engine is
classified as the most frequent flying at varying flight altitude conditions. This research
aims to identify the effects of flying height and the performance of the Pratt and Whitney
PT6A-8C.
The results of the calculation of the Pratt and Whitney PT6A-8C EMB-314 Super
Tucano engine performance based on cruising flying conditions in the Aircraft flight log
had flight data including Indicator Air Speed (IAS) which showed values that did not have
significant changes and tended to be at 109-110 knots, then the Inter Turbine Temperature
(ITT) value tended to rise with each height. For the effect of precise altitude at an altitude
of 8000-12000 ft, it showed that the higher the height, the lower the temperature and the
value of the fuel/air ratio and specific thrust increased.
