Abstract :
Solar power is very useful for human life, recently a renewable energy source has been developed, namely solar power as a solar power plant or often called a solar cell. This solar cell technology can convert solar energy into electrical energy. From this technology there are many uses in people's lives, including as lighting around residential roads. Solar street lighting is a long lasting and energy-efficient source of energy. The presence of street lighting makes it easier for road users to see more clearly the road to be traversed at night safely. This research discusses how to design a solar power plant for street lighting with a light dependent resistor LDR sensor that will be used to widen roads around housing estates. The equipment used includes solar panels, solar charge controllers, arduino, LDR sensors, relays, lights, batteries, and multimeters. In this study, measurements of current and voltage were carried out using a multimeter. The load used is a 20 watt DC spotlight with a 50Wp solar panel and a 12V 10Ah battery.. The results of the research conducted for two days showed that the solar power plant for street lighting in the Villa Balaraja residential area, which was placed in front of the house, had an average solar cell voltage of the first day of 15.45 V and an average voltage on the second day of .15.28 V.The time needed by the Solar cell to charge the battery to full charger on the first day for 6 hours and the second day for 5 hours. The battery that is supplied with a 20W DC light load will light up at night and last up to 9 hours of irradiation. The light will automatically turn on if the LDR sensor does not detect incoming sunlight and the light will turn off if the LDR sensor detects incoming sunlight.
