Abstract :
Electrical energy is currently very important for human life, many people
use electronic equipment that uses electrical energy to function. Electrical energy
is generated from various kinds of energy conversions such as coal, petroleum,
water, wind, solar, geothermal, nuclear and so on. Broadly speaking, electrical
energy sources are divided into two parts, namely fossil energy and renewable
energy. One source of renewable electrical energy is solar energy sourced from the
sun, namely by converting light radiation and heat emitted by the sun into electrical
energy using solar cells.
In this study, the authors use a tracking device (tracker) as a driver of solar
panels so that they can follow the direction of sunlight when it rotates. The tracker
solar panel system is a tool that can help absorb sunlight to be more optimal
compared to static solar panels. TP5100 is a device that serves as a safety device
so that the lithium ion battery is not overloaded when the lithium ion battery is fully
charged. The distribution of electrical energy generated from solar panels will be
channeled to lithium ion batteries as a medium for storing electrical energy.
The results obtained in this study are tracker solar panels are able to
produce an average voltage of 9.68V, while static solar panels are able to produce
an average voltage of 9.42V. Calculation of the voltage comparison between
tracker solar panels and static solar panels is 9.68V - 9.42V = 0.26V. This is
because the tracker solar panels are able to follow the direction of sunlight when it
rotates from east to west so that at certain hours the tracker solar panels are more
optimal in absorbing sunlight.
