Abstract :
Evacuation teams need a device that helps them communicate in an
emergency such as a location with low signal. Radio Directional Finder (RDF) is
a classic communication tool that is able to assist communication in areas that
lack a GSM signal so as to facilitate the evacuation process in an emergency. On
the other hand, Radio Direction Finder (RDF) is a tool that can detect the
presence of a transmitter that is connected by utilizing the Doppler effect, so that
it can help communicate in an emergency.
In this RDF design using the Doppler concept with a frequency of 500 Hz
which is modulated with a carrier frequency of 146 MHz. The 5 V received by the
8 kHz clock circuit outputs a frequency of 8 kHz. Then the 8 kHz frequency is
forwarded to the binary counter circuit and divided into 2 at each output to Q0 =
4 kHz, Q1 = 2 kHz, Q2 = 1 kHz and Q3 = 500 Hz. The 4 kHz output is forwarded
to the LED display then the 2 kHz and 1 kHz outputs are forwarded to the digital
filter circuit. The 500 Hz output is forwarded directly to the multiplexer circuit
and then forwarded to the antenna switcher to be modulated.
From the results of the study showed the tool can function properly and
the modulation process can run well. The frequency of 500 Hz which is output
from the 1-of-4 data selector circuit is forwarded to the antenna switcher and
rotated 500 revolutions / sec. When the 146 Mhz frequency is connected to the
antenna, the 146 Mhz frequency will be played simultaneously with the 500 Hz
Doppler frequency, so that when voice data is received and output to the external
speaker, a shrill sound will be heard due to a shift from the 146 Mhz frequency
and 500 Hz Doppler on the antenna. The shrill sound will change when the
transmitter moves closer to or away from the antenna. Overall the tool can work
in accordance with the theory learned.
