Abstract :
The use of plastic keeps increasing along with the increasing
population, especially in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the nature of plastic that
is difficult to decompose and the pressure of environmental experts who
want the use of plastic to be reduced encaurage the efforts to convert
plastic waste into more useful products. One alternative to converting
plastic waste is to utilize the mixed materials for making paving blocks.
Finding out the variations used for the compressive strength of paving
blocks was the purpose of this study.
In this study, the materials used were HDPE plastic from oil
bottles, LDPE from plastic cups and PP from plastic bags as a substitute
for Portland cement . The pure variation used for HDPE, LDPE, PP and
sand plastic was 40% : 60%. The variation of the mixture used was HDPE
+ LDPE, HDPE + PP, LDPE + PP,HDPE + LDPE + PP and sand 40% :
60%.
The test results showed that the highest compressive strength value
of HDPE, LDPE and PP plastic paving blocks was in the variation of the
mixture of HDPE + LDPE in 19.65 MPa. Furthermore, based on the
quality requirements of SNI 03-0691-1996 the compressive strength value
is included in the B quality for the parking lot.
