Abstract :
In 2025 around 25% of renewable energy needs are targeted in Indonesia. Micro hydro power (MHP) is the rationale for research and development of water energy potential. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method is used as a calculation method in the form of a Pelton water turbine simulation which is used as an object in the water flow simulation. The purpose of this study was to visualize the fluid flow in the Pelton turbine with variations in the number of buckets for 12, 14 and 16 using the Ansys Student R2 2020 software to investigate the difference between fluid flow and the torque contained in the flow. The variations in the value of the Pelton turbine bucket angle were 50o , 60o , 70o , 80o , and 90o . The simulations were conducted with the variations value of the angle (degree) in the Pelton turbine bucket. The pelton turbine modeling was carried out using Solidwork 2016 software, after that the simulation continued by using Ansys software with the specified parameters setting when performing simulation. The output simulation results were torque, RPM and Power. The results showed the visualization of the Pelton turbine flow, where the turbine bucket angle affected the torque characteristics that depended on the turbine rotation (RPM) and the power produced varied with the transformation in the number of buckets and the bucket angle.
