Abstract :
Brake system on the aircraft is one of the systems that is indispensable
for braking at the time of landing. The aircraft uses three types of braking, namely
wheel brakes, thrust reversers, and ground spoilers. The Grob G120TP-A aircraft
with the tail number LD-XXXX experienced a reduction in the braking ability of
the brake system. This is very dangerous for the plane because it can cause an
accident.
Trouble analysis of reduced braking ability on the brake system of the
Grob G 120TP-A aircraft is by visual inspection method and information obtained
from field instructors and using the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method to find the
cause of the problem in the brake.
Results obtained in this study showed damage to the seal o'ring caused by
over heating in the brake assembly on the attached caliper component so that the
aircraft could not brake optimally. To overcome these problems, troubleshooting
is carried out based on ref. Aircract Maintenance Manual chapter 32-40 page 51-
52 regarding reduced braking ability of the brake system and replacement of seal
o'ring components is carried out according to the reference Aircract Maintenance
Manual chapter 32-40 page 81-82. The FTA results obtained several basic events,
namely fluid quantity is low, spring on the master cylinder crack, brake pipe not
connected, broken seal on master cylinder, parking valve malfunction, crack on
parking valve, worn parking brake lever, broken spring on parking brake lever,
Calliper piston fault, brake assembly leak, nipple bleed leakage, worn brake pad,
brake pad overheating, brake pad crack.brake system can perform optimal
braking.
