Abstract :
Aluminum alloy 7075 is one of the aluminum alloys with Zn as the main alloy.
This aluminum alloy is produced in many tempers, some of which are 7075-0, 7075-
T6, 7075-T651. Based on the Al-Zn phase diagram, the melting point of aluminum alloy
7075 with wt% Standard Aluminum Association is at 660°C. This research was
conducted by adding the temperature at each time of 30°C. The three pouring
temperatures used are 690°C, 720°C and 750°C. The purpose of this temperature
variation is to determine the effect of freezing time of aluminum alloy on physical and
mechanical properties.
Casting of 7075 aluminum alloy is carried out with three pouring temperatures
of 690°C, 720°C into the mold and 750°C according to these temperatures. Casting
was carried out to determine the effect of temperature on the microstructure and
mechanical properties of 7075 aluminum alloy. Microstructure testing and made using
ASTM standards.
The results showed that the increase in the pouring temperature had an effect
on the rate of freezing of the microstructure. The highest hardness value was obtained
at 60.7 kgf/mm2 at a pouring temperature of 750°C. Impact toughness values do not
show significant changes with temperature.
