Abstract :
Aircraft landing gear system is the main system that must be equiped by the
braking system to supports the aircraft structure on the ground. The braking system
problem was appeared if any present one or more failure components in its system.
When the braking system problem occurred, it would influenced to the pilot
controlling performance especially during decelerate to full stop on the runway.
In this research, the direct observation method was used to observe and
analyze the maintenance handling of Boeing 737-800 NG at Line Maintenace of PT.
Sriwijaya Air Subject of this research is the braking system of Boeing 737-800 NG.
Besides it in this research used the fault tree analysis method to find any possible
caused that will be present in the Boeing 737-800 NG braking system problem. The
troubleshooting and remove/install process refers to the FIM Boeing 737-800 NG
chapter 32-42 task 816, AMM Boeing 737-800 NG task 32-41-31, AMM Boeing
737-800 NG task 32-41-72 and AMM Boeing 737-800 NG task 32-41-41.
After functional test be done determine the condition of the braking system
has been successfully maintained, refers to the AMM task 32-41-00-710-801. By
using the fault tree analysis method related to the aircraft brake system problem,
14 basic events have been obtained. The 14 basic events are brake control cable
broken, crank shaft fault, shaft dirty and dust on spring which can cause brake
metering valve to fail, then spring fault, piston fuse fault, and fittings leak are three
basic events that can cause hydraulic fuse fault, then disk crack, stators disk wear
out, rotors disk wear out, pressure plate crack, pressure plate bend, cylinder cap
leak, and piston stuck on housing are nine basic events that can cause the brake
assembly to fail.
