Abstract :
The Flight Control System is used to control the effect of forces on the
aircraft, the direction of flight and the attitude of the aircraft. Flight control
consists of primary flight control and secondary flight control. The aileron is the
main flight control on the Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft which is driven by a
hydraulic system and cables. System failure on ailerons that often occurs is the
ailerons experience slow movement or the ailerons do not return to their normal
position. The effect of the damage is that the aircraft cannot be controlled to drive
a rolling motion.
In this study using the method of observation and information from various
sources. In addition, this study also uses the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method to
determine the cause of aileron failure on the Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
The results of the research on problems with the aileron Boeing 737-800
NG are problems with the aileron power control unit (PCU) component. From
these problems, the problem handling process is carried out which refers to the
AMM Boeing 737-800 task 27-11-00. By analyzing the cause of failure of the
aileron using the fault tree analysis (FTA) method, 10 basic events were obtained
consisting of body cable loose, wing cable blockage, FOD, damage, stuck,
actuator trouble, friction, packing seal broken, dirty, and clogging.
