Abstract :
The ground spoiler on the Boeing 737-800 serves to increase the drag force
and reduce the lift force when the plane is landing. There was a problem with the
ground spoiler that couldn't go up (extend upwards). The impact of the trouble is
that the aircraft requires a longer runway to land which has the potential to
overshoot. Therefore, treatment is needed to solve these problems.
This study uses the observation method, handling failures using the Aircraft
Maintenance Manual (AMM) ATA 27-62-61-020-001 and Fault Tree Analysis
(FTA) to determine the causes of failure in the ground spoiler.
The results of the study found a leak in the ground spoiler interlock valve
due to damage to the seal. While the results of the cause of failure based on the
fault tree analysis method in the form of high tension on the speedbrake forward
drum, broken seal, leaking seal, friction on the ratio changer, friction on spoiler
mixer, loosen, corrosion, and kink.
