Abstract :
Brake system is an important system in the KT-1B Woong Bee aircraft,
because braking system functions to slow down and stop the aircraft. brake used on
the KT-1B Woong Bee type external caliper.occurs Over heating where the
operating temperature of the brake assembly has reached more than 138?C. When
the parking brake is releasedto still exert pressure brake assembly so that when
the aircraft is running, over heating in the brake assembly.
Analysis of failures that occur in the brake assembly is based on observations
and information obtained from field instructors and mechanics. In addition to using
the observation method, this study also uses the Fault Tree Analysis to find the
cause of the problem of reduced braking ability on brake system the KT-1B Woong
Bee and obtained 18 basic events.
After knowing the problem, an initial inspection process was carried out
based on the Troubleshooting Procedure Manual TO 1T-KT1B - 22 3-143
Chapter, regarding reduced braking ability, and it was found that the cause of the
problem of reduced braking ability in the brake system was wear on the brake lining
which resulted in over heating in brake assembly. Replacement of brake lining is
carried out in accordance with the reference TO 1T-KT1B-2-3JG-5, page 14-1.
After replacing the brake lining, then an operational test which refers to TO 1T-
KT1B-2-3JG-5 page 30-2 and brake system can perform optimal braking.
