Abstract :
Aircraft landing gear system is the main system that must be equiped by the
braking system to supports the aircraft structure on the ground. The braking system
problem was appeared if any present one or more failure components in its system.
When the braking system problem occurred, it would influenced to the pilot
controlling performance especially during decelerate to full stop on the runway.
In this thesis, using observation and information method fromvarious
sources. Furthermore,it also uses Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method to determine
the root cause of the failure of the wheel brake system on the Boeing 737-800 NG
aircraft.
The result of research on wheel brake system problem Boeing 737-800 NG,
there is a problem on the brake accumulator and alternate brake selector valve.
From these problems, then do a problem-solving process that refers to AMM
Boeing 737-800 task 32-41-51 for brake accumulator and AMM Boeing 737-800
task 32-41-93 for alternate brake selector valve. By analyzing the causes of failure
of the wheel brake using the FTA method, we get 5 basic events consisting of fitting
leak, packing/seal broken, connector loose, electrical connector disconnect,
connector corrosion which can trigger the top event.
