Abstract :
The pump is the main component used to supply hydraulics to the aircraft.
On Boeing 737- 900 ER aircraft there are 2 types of pumps, namely Engine-Driven
Pump (EDP) and Electric Motor-Driven Pump (EMDP). When the EDP fails, the
EMDP works as a backup pump. In this research conducted on Boeing 737-900 ER
aircraft, when the aircraft conducts an operational test, the pump loses the ability
to supply pressure so that related components cannot work optimally.
This research uses observation methods and information from various
sources. In addition, this study also uses the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method to
determine the root cause of failure of the EMDP on the Boeing 737-900 ER aircraft.
The results of the research on problems with the Boeing 737-900 ER EMDP
are problems with the Case Drain Filter. From these problems, a problem handling
process is carried out which refers to AMM Boeing 737-900 ER task 29-11-41-000-
801 for filter element removal and packing and AMM Boeing 737-900 ER task 29-
11-41-000-802 for the installation process. By analyzing the causes of failure in
EMDP using the FTA method, 10 basic events which can trigger a top event.
