Abstract :
Analog frequency meters usually take a long time to read and have low accuracy and accuracy. This study designed a frequency measuring system that can measure the frequency accurately and faster in reading using the atmega 328P microcontroller as the main component. In this study, the input of the system is the AC voltage coming from the function generator, the function generator is set to issue a sine wave with a frequency of 5Hz to 20KHz then proceed to the Schmitt trigger, the Schmitt trigger circuit is a circuit that converts a sine wave into a pulse wave at the output signal. The Schmitt trigger output will change to low when the input signal passes the VT+ value and turns high when it passes VT-. The output of the Schmitt trigger is inputted to the external interrupt pin, then the signal period reading is calculated using the micros function with a reading of 16 signal periods. The frequency value is obtained from the signal period value. The results showed that the designed frequency counter can be used to measure frequencies from 5 Hz to 20 KHz with a maximum error of 1.5%. So it can be an alternative this research can be developed to monitor recorded electrical parameters.
