Abstract :
The Wheel Brake System is able to slow down the aircraft speed or stop the
aircraft when it is on the ground as determined. The system can be operated manually
and begins by pressing the brake pedals connected to the brake metering valve. The
brake metering valve controls the hydraulic power to be distributed to the brake
assembly for braking.
A wheel brake system failure was found where the brake assembly did
not return to the released position when the brake pedals were released, after which
the failure was found to troubleshoot the Wheel Brake System. A visual inspection is
carried out to identify the cause of a malfunction in the brake assembly, it is found that
the brake assembly component is damaged and must be replaced.
This failure was caused by corrosion of the wheel brake assembly components
which caused a complete failure during braking. After replacement of the brake
assembly, the wheel brake system can return to working properly or return to
serviceable condition.
