Abstract :
Position light is one of the external lighting systems on the aircraft that
serves to provide lighting in front of the aircraft that helps the Pilot and other
aircraft or ATC crew so that when maneuvering on the ground or when the
aircraft is taxiing in the taxi way at night so that visibility is maintained. Position
lights are located at the trailing edge of each wingtip. This system has various
problems. One of the problems is that the position light cannot operate properly in
the available modes.
The way to overcome when position light cannot operate properly on
Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft is found in the Fault Isolation Manual, namely by
carrying out operational tests, lamp replacement, transformer replacement and
wiring replacement. Components used for position light are found in the Aircraft
Maintenance Manual (AMM) for Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
After the lamp replacement, transformer replacement and wiring
replacement are carried out, an operational test is required. When conducting an
operational test, the position light will turn on properly and there are no problems
with the component. This indicates that the component is serviceable and can be
reused
