Abstract :
The standby altimeter is one of the standby navigation systems on the
Boeing 737-NG which functions to indicate the altitude of an aircraft standby
altimeter is an auxiliary instrument that uses an analog system. The instrument
relies on differential pressure, obtained from the static port taken from the air
outside the aircraft. Then the air is used to move the gear connected to the pointer.
The altimeter must always be in serviceable condition, because in its use it cannot
be separated from errors. One of them is an error indicator.
To find out the error indicator that occurs on the standby altimeter is to
perform a system test using ADTS (Air Data Test Set). Proceed to the step of
identifying possible causses. Problem was found with alternate static system block.
After knowing the problem, according to the Fault Isolation Manual TASK
34-13-801 the troubleshooting process was carried out by means of a flush
alternate static system. Followed by a system test, the results of the indicator on the
standby altimeter have shown that it is within the specified tolerance limits and can
operate normally. This indicates that the problem has been resolved and the system
has returned to a serviceable state.
