Abstract :
The Bioarang briquette is one of the fuels from planting waste as an alternative energy.
Alternative energy is renewable energy and the potential is planting waste. The skin of coffee
is a separate waste from the coffee beans. Arabica is a type of traditional coffee of good quality
and considered the most delicious. Pine wood powder is wood powder from pine species
obtained by cutting wood. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the composition
of briquettes with a mixture of coffee skin and pine wood powder on the calorific value, the
moisture content, the ash content and the density of the briquettes.
The research method used is descriptive experimental. The comparison of a mixture of
Arabica coffee skin and pine wood powder is 80:10 (%), 60:30 (%), 45:45 (%), 30:60, 10:80
(% ), with 10 (%) adhesive. The briquette manufacturing process uses the carbonization of the
coffee hulls and sawdust for 1 hour at a temperature of 500oC.
The results of the study showed that the decrease in the composition of the coffee pod
powder did not significantly influence the results of the tests for calorific value, moisture
content, ash content and the density of the briquettes. The best test results are in the ratio of
10:80 (%) with a calorific value of 6444.8972 Kal / g, a humidity value of 4.39%, an ash content
value of 7.9% and a density test result of 0.89 (g / cm3).
