Abstract :
The Bioarang briquette is one of the fuels from planting waste as an alternative
energy. The biomass briquette is used as an environmentally friendly alternative
fuel. Alternative energy is renewable energy and the potential is planting waste.
Durian skin is a waste product containing essential oils, flavonoids, saponins,
cellulose, lignin and starch. Not only is durian skin beneficial for human life, but
the content of durian skin also has high nutritional health benefits. The coconut
shell is a part of the coconut fruit in the form of an endocrap, which is hard and
covered with coconut fiber. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the
composition of briquettes with variations in the raw material of a mixture of durian
bark and coconut on the calorific value, the water content and the content of ashes.
The research method used is descriptive experimental. Comparison of a
mixture of durian skin and coconut with an adhesive based on tapioca flour (16,6%
: 66,7% : 16,6%), (33,3% : 33,3% : 33,3%) and (44,4% : 11,1% : 44,4%). The
briquette manufacturing process uses the carbonization of the durian peel and the
coconut shell for 4 hours at a temperature of 450°C.
The results of the study showed that the increase in the composition of durian
skin powder did not significantly influence the results of the tests for calorific value,
moisture content and ash content of briquettes. The best test results are in the ratio
of 16,6% : 66,7% : 16,6% with a calorific value of 6230 Cal/g, a moisture content
of 9,00% and an ash content of 2,95%
