Abstract :
In the SMAW welding process, defects in the weld results often occur
caused by residual stresses contained in the area around the weld, defects in
is an important welding parameter because it can affect the tensile strength and
bending strength of the material, this research aims to determine other strengths
tensile and bending strength when welding SMAW with and without reheating
reheating.
In this research, the SMAW welding method was used
E7016 type electrode with a diameter of 2.5 mm with a heating time variation of 1
20 second rounds, 2 40 second rounds and 3 60 second rounds, Materials used
in this study is a sign plate with a carbon content of less than 0.3%
which is included in the low carbon steel group, and testing uses tests
tensile test using ASTM E8M, and bending test using ASTM E190, from research
which has been reheated can increase the tensile stress, tension
yields even if not significantly, and reduces distortion and has the potential to increase
bending strength.
